My makeup bag has cat ears, what about you? I'm not even a big cat fan but how cute is it??. Erm VERY. It's actually from Asos (here) but I got sent it along with some of the new Miss Sporty Spring collection products that I've already been blogging about. A few of the products are kind of cat inspired so It's a very fitting makeup bag to store them all in. It's also a gorgeous pastel pink colour which definitely goes with the Spring theme.

W7 Palettes

I have recently been trying out some of the various W7 palettes. If you didn't know, W7 are a super inexpensive makeup brand. Their palettes are fairly obvious 'dupes' of the Naked Palettes. I thought I would let you know how well these palettes actually measure up. Here's what I thought..

'In The Nude' Palette

All the eyeshadows are nice and pigmented..I mean not beautifully buttery like the Naked Palettes, but enough that it's enjoyable/easy to apply. I always use an eyeshadow primer before applying eyeshadow (the Makeup Revolution one which is really good by the way) which makes the eyeshadows in the palette look so vibrant and last so much longer.

There is a lovely range of shades in the palette (which do all have names) - highlighting whites, rosy shimmers and a couple of dark greys. You can create some really pretty pinky Spring/Summer looks with this palette, but there's also the greys if you want to be a bit more dramatic and evening appropriate.

'Naked Nudes' Palette

This palette is perfect for a super neutral everyday look. This wouldn't be the kind of palette I would use if I was going out for drinks or for a special occasion as there isn't really a statement dark shade to create a smoky eye or anything like that. The shades are nice but they do lack a bit of pigmentation meaning you really do have to layer it up.

'In The Buff' Palette

The palette has the most lovely range of neutral shimmer and non shimmer shades. From pale whites (which could also be used as a highlight), shimmery browns/golds, silvers and dark black (perfect for a smoky eye). The range of shades makes it a super versatile palette that you can create so many looks from. The shadows are all nice and just as pigmented as the 'In The Nude' palette.

I've been pleased with all three palettes. All at under £5, I think the brand is brilliant value for money, especially when you can't face shelling out £38 for one of the Urban Decay Naked palettes.

Have you used any W7 products?

I have a new found obsession with homeware which is kind of annoying since I don't have my own place to buy anything for! One day when have my own place I'm going to go so crazy on homeware just because of the excitement of finally having a reason to buy it. Ideally I would like my future home to be very shabby chic, pastel haven (as you can probably tell from the pictures. In other words, basically an instagrammable/tumblr worthy/ blogger photo dream house! One day Rachel.. one day!

I always find myself looking at homeware inspo on Tumblr and looking at interior blogs. It's just so nice to look at.

What are your favourite homeware pieces that I've picked out?

Chanel Coco Mademoiselle is definitely my all time favourite perfume. I think I may have possibly already done a post about it around a year or so ago.. but I love it that much that here it is again! No it's not very cheap but nothing about Chanel will ever be cheap! I think the one I have got was around £60.. yikes! I never buy myself perfume though. I always just ask for it for birthdays/Christmas. I can't justify spending that much on a perfume for myself! Anyone else the same?

Anyway the perfume! It's pretty much impossible to describe a smell in writing but the smell to me is just really elegant and classy. It's neither sweet or fresh which I think is a sign of an expensive perfume. With cheaper perfumes they always seem to fall into the category of either being sweet scented or fresh scented. This falls into neither though. It's just perfect.

The one I've got actually comes with one main dispenser with 20ml of perfume and then two more refills. I love that compared to having one big bottle as it always seems a little strange carrying a full size perfume in your bag!

Do any of you use this perfume? What's your favourite perfume?

I love a nice face mask! I've recently been using a hydrating mask by Elizabeth Arden* which I got from Direct Cosmetics. It has been going down a treat with my skin! As I've mentioned countless times, I have very dry skin and I'm really not the best when it comes to skin care. It's one of those beauty things I suck at! From time to time though, I love to have a nice pamper evening and refresh my skin with a face mask.

I've been loving this one as I find it is actually really hydrating. It has really helped my makeup to stay on nicely and not go all dried out during the day. My face feels so much smoother and hydrated.. No more horrible dry patches! In terms of reducing spots and stuff, I haven't noticed much of a difference. I don't have the worst spots anyway, but I do always seem to have the odd few. Anyone recommend any face masks for reducing spots?

Overall a really really great mask for anyone that suffers from dry skin. However, I probably wouldn't recommend this for anyone on the oilier skin side as other than being hydrating I haven't noticed that it's really benefitted my skin in any other way.

What's your favourite Elizabeth Arden product?

I love Michael Kors bags. I love the simplistic, modern design and how there's always a colour to go with everything. I really want to invest in one but I'm struggling to decide which one to go with.. plus I'm meant to be saving my money so maybe not the best of ideas. Urghhhh how gorgeous are they though?!! I love all the ones I've picked out as they are all a decent size and I seem to be one of those people that carries round half my life with me wherever I go - anyone else?

Do any of you have a Michael Kors bag? Which one do you have?

Having recently got a new phone, I was quite excited when a company called Mr Nutcase allowed me to choose/design my own case from their website*.

I love my new phone case! I opted to design my own as you can buy set designed cases anywhere really! As you can see from the picture, I went for a mint green background and then added the wording 'RACHEL IS QUEEN'..true fact ;). I mean I don't actually think I'm a queen (although that would be cool), I just thought it would be funny since describing people as 'Queen' seems to be one of the things of the moment! I actually made the little text box on as the Mr Nutcase site didn't have a font that I wanted to use. I then just print screened it and added the writing as a picture. It was super easy and a little top tip for if you want to be a bit more adventurous with your font!

You can choose different styles of case but I went for the thin/light weight one as I don't like my phone to feel/look too bulky. I also love how the case is clear at the sides which I think makes it look higher quality and again, less bulky! The case feels super sturdy and something that will definitely protect my phone from all the dropping I seem to put it through.. I know I'm not the only one!

The only couple of down sides I would say is that when you're designing your own case you're only able to add one picture (unless you're making a collage case where you can add as many pictures to fill the spaces that there is). I don't know if that makes sense but I was originally going to add 'RACHEL', 'IS' AND 'QUEEN' all separately and have them stacked but I couldn't do that as I could only add one picture. It would also be cool if you were able to add text to the set designed cases!

So yep, a really cool phone case that I think is well worth the £14.99 since you can design it however you like and it's nice and high quality. I would also just like to add that it arrived SUPER quickly. I designed it on Wednesday, it was shipped yesterday and it arrived today. I do love speedy delivery!

I've pretty much always been one of those girls that straightens my hair whenever I'm going out/doing anything nice/trying to make myself look presentable. I've been getting kind of bored of the same straight look though, and because my hair lacks volume, straightening it sometimes can make it look even flatter. The other day I decided to dig out my Remington curling wand (that has probably only been used a couple of times) and curled my hair.

I don't know why I didn't start curling my hair sooner but I absolutely love it, and it's such an easy way to add volume but also a glamorous 'I've made an effort' kind of look! I admit it does take longer than straightening but I think it gives a much nicer look and my hair actually holds the curls so well. My hair in the pictures was actually curled the day before. By then the curls dropped quite a bit and my hair just looks like it naturally has a nice curl to it. I love it like that but I also love how it looks when I've first done it and it's more ringlet-y.

From now on when I'm styling my hair I will definitely be reaching for my curlers rather than my straighteners!

What are your favourite hair curling appliances?

Anyone who knows me well will know that I am the least likely person to ever book and go on a holiday on my own. I mean I'm such a home girl and I'm not very independent when it comes to travelling anywhere.. even just to the nearest city to do some shopping! Despite this, recently I have really cottoned on to the idea that I really want to go travelling. I study from home and my time is so flexible that I feel like I really need to make the most of this (and being young!) while I can!

I'm sure lots of you will already be aware of Trek America but they are basically a company that put together group tour holidays in America. You travel with a tour guide and a group of around 15 people so they are perfect if you're travelling alone. I'm just so so tempted to book one of their trips because they sound amazing! The one I've been looking at is just a 7 day one where you go to LA, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Yosemite and The Grand Canyon (The Westerner BLT). It sounds so incredible and I know it's only short but it would be a big thing for me!

I still can't bring myself to sort it all out just yet as the prospect of finding my own way round an airport and an 11 hour flight on my own is a bit scary.. but I know I need to just bite the bullet and do it! Life is too short to not just go for it sometimes!

Have any of you travelled alone/done a trip with Trek America?.. What was it like?

The other day I was just applying my makeup when I realised that I didn't actually own any really good eye brushes. I tended to just stick with a cheap ones that I've had for way too long. I've been obsessed with playing around with different eyeshadow looks at the moment so I thought it was time to invest in a good set. And of course, I had to go with Real Techniques since I'm so obsessed with their basic face brushes starter set!

The set comes with 5 brushes, a base shadow brush, a deluxe crease brush, an accent brush, a pixel point eye liner brush and a brow brush. I got the set for just £12.99 from Ebay which is insanely good for a set of 5 really high quality brushes.

The brushes I have been using most are the base shadow brush to apply a foundation of eyeshadow and then the crease brush which I've found is amazing for adding a darker shade to the outer corner and crease of your eye. Smoky eye looks have never been so easy to create! I've found that the two smaller brushes are so good for if you want to line your eyes with a darker colour, or add a really light shade to the inner corner of your eyes to brighten them up a bit. I haven't really used the brow brush a lot as I find that because my eyebrows are so dark, if I fill them in they just look so crazy and over the top. Anyone else have this problem? For someone with paler eyebrows though, I reckon this would be amazing for filling in!

Have any of your got this brush set?.. What do you think of it?
